Bobby Jagoe is an amazing 29 year old husband and an awesome father to Avram, age 5. He is also a juvenile detention officer, social worker, trumpet player, uncle, son, nephew, grandson, dog lover, good Samaritan, free time artist, and resident lover of any old car that needs some help. He also has a rare form of appendix cancer.
Three days before Christmas 2013, Bobby went to the hospital with appendicitis. While having laparoscopic surgery a 5 cm tumor was found. He was then diagnosed with stage II adenocarcinoma of the appendix and required another major surgery to remove 12 inches of the right side of his colon, 6 inches of his small intesting and the lymph nodes around them.
Unfortanetly surgery did not go as planned. The surgeon started with a scope and found what was dreaded, more cancer. Amdist the scar tissure, Bobby had several small growths of cancer cell around where his appendix used to be. The surgeon did not proceed to take out any of his colon. Instead, Bobby was closed up and told to start chemo. We saw a new oncologist in Houston to determine the appropriate type of chemo for Bobby to recieve intraveniously for the next 3 months back in Florida. The goal is to stop the growth and spread of the cancer cells before Bobby undergoes surgery. We will return to Houston in 3 months to proceed with the removal of the right side of his colon.
And then, stage 4 cancer, the one thing we never expected to hear on this journey to recovery. It felt like the gravity in the room switched on when the oncologist used the number 4 to describe Bobby. Despite the label, Bobby remains positive and his team at MD Anderson is extremely hopeful for his treatment.
We need your help to fund Bobby's trips to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and to help his family stay afloat as they face his loss of income and all the out of pocket medical bills that are already coming in.
Bobby is truly grateful for anything you may be able offer in support. Please accept our earnest and very humble thanks in advance. Your gesture will make a big difference in Bobby’s fight against cancer.
